What kind of ‘alive’ is algae? Why are we so driven to categorize others, especially other beings? These are some of the many questions I try to uncover within my essay film for my ‘Visual Anthropology: Filming as a Knowledge Practice’ course. This is my first attempt at multispecies ethnographic filmmaking.

DENIAL WON’T FIX IT (2024)

A collage visualizing my frustrations with responses to global crises. You can’t address the global health crisis without including climate change and other crises in the dominant narrative. Since all beings experience crises in varied manners, potential solutions should consist of the voices and experiences of humans, beyond humans, and ecosystems. My final project for my ‘Anthropology of Crisis Europe’ course.
